..is an incredibly bad movie from 1969. It has a very undeserved X-rating, too.
Dr Thirsty is the man to thank for the discovery that this terrible movie does have a rather decent spanking scene.
It is a very rare scene, too.

I know this because I tried to get the whole movie in the highest possible quality. I succeeded - at least I thought so, only to discover that my version didn't have the spanking scene in it - only the
lotion scene after the spanking.
So there are different versions of this beauty out there - and not all of them feature the spanking scene. I found another low quality version in which the already thin plot had been ripped to pieces by
apparently randomly re-arranging the scenes. It had the spanking scene in it, however.

On a side note the movie does have some funniest "ship at sea" scenes ever. Obviously the filmmakers' budget was so low, they didn't even have the money to
buy some sort of realistic ship model. The one they used for their (very brief, so I guess they knew) "ship shown from a distance" looks nothing like a cheap toy.

Today: Pain and punishment.

Well, now for those who had to (or chose to) learn Latin at school, the origin of to punish and punishment will be easy to tell.
Both are related to the Latin word punire not surprisingly meaning 'to punish'.

punire itself goes back to Latin poena meaning 'penalty, punishment' - with poena itself probably going back to Greek poinehaving the same meaning.

But as often, the English language didn't directly take the word from Latin, but picked it up via Old French puniss in the middle of the 14th century.
Only a little earlier English Anglo-French punisement was imported as punishment into the English language.

Funnily enough, Pain originally had the meaning 'punishment'. This meaning still survives in the idiom "on pain of death".
The meaning 'suffering' was only a secondary development.
Pain ultimately goes back to poena as well - which btw. also spawned penalty, penance and pentinence.

The word pain around the year 1300 also found its way into the English language via Old French peine.

I have reported the spanking scene(s) in "The Killer Inside Me" before.

Luther has discovered some snippets from the movies (thanks!), so I can add the scene Kate Hudson was talking about, too. Credits for the scenes go to DeepAtSea.
It appears, however, that the scene in the beginning has been cut to show only the "nude" parts - but the DVD is due to be released next month, so I guess I'll create another version then.
But for now it's the best I can offer.

Warning: Especially the Jessica Alba spanking is very rough, so it might not be everyone's cup of tea.
