The movies also meant the start of Romy Schneider's career - but after three Sissi movies she decided it was enough and refused to appear in a fourth part - fearing she would always just be "Sissi" for the audience (she had no luck with this in Germany where most people still only know her for the Sissi movies).
Instead, she "fled" to France where she succesfully started an international career.
In the third installment of the Sissi triology, "Sissi - Schicksalsjahre einer Kaiserin" (Sissi: The Fateful Years of an Empress) from 1957, there is a spanking scene in a Gypsy camp which Sissi visits.
The Sissi movies are reliably shown every year at Christmas in German TV, so I was able to catch the scene in good quality for you!
